University of South Carolina Aiken: Director of Instrumental Studies

Todd Jenkins is Director of Instrumental Studies at the University of South Carolina Aiken. At USCA, he conducts the USCA Wind Ensemble, Pacer Pulse Pep Band, and the Aiken Concert Band. He also leads the CSRA New Horizons Concert Band and the AAA Homeschool Band. Professor Jenkins is responsible for teaching classes in conducting, music technology, and music appreciation. He coaches chamber music and teaches private trumpet lessons to majors and non-majors. 

A native of North Augusta, SC, Dr. Jenkins studied music at the University of South Carolina (Bachelor of Music), Ithaca College (Master of Music in Trumpet Performance) and Liberty University (Doctor of Music Education). Before joining the full-time faculty at the University of South Carolina Aiken, he taught 4-12th grade band at Augusta Christian School in Martinez, Georgia, and worked as adjunct faculty in the music departments at Augusta University and the University of South Carolina Aiken. He has also taught at Brevard College and Charleston Southern University. He has worked as a staff member for the bands of Wando High School (Mount Pleasant, SC) and The Charleston School of the Arts, and currently assists with the band programs at Aiken High School, Horse Creek Academy, Ridge Spring-Monetta High School and Greenbrier High School (Evans, GA). Additionally, Dr. Jenkins serves as a clinician for Sightreading Factory. In that capacity, he has presented clinics at the conventions of the Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Indiana, and North Carolina Music Educator Associations. He presented a brass pedagogy clinic at the National Conference of the Association of Concert Bands in Towson, MD in 2026.

Apart from his duties at USCA, Dr. Jenkins serves on the music staff at Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling, Georgia, and performs as a trumpet player with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, the Aiken Civic Orchestra, and the North Charleston Pops! Orchestra, the Lyra Vivace Chamber Orchestra, and has performed with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, the King's Brass, and Eurobrass. He maintains an active trumpet private studio; his students have been named to principal positions in the South Carolina and Georgia All-State Bands and have been accepted as scholarship music students at numerous universities. He maintains memberships in the National Association for Music Education, the International Trumpet Guild, the Association of Concert Bands, and the New Horizons International Music Association. Todd lives in North Augusta with his wife Kate (a professional trombonist), their son Will (a hornist and pianist), and numerous pets.
